STI EG Prep Tools for Removal are STI’s complete line of surface preparation tools engineered to remove coatings, adhesives, glue, mastic, thin-set, mortar residue, epoxy, urethane, and other surface contaminants from concrete before grinding or polishing. Built around STI’s patented EG attachment system, these tools mount securely to Prep/Master® floor grinders and prepare floors by exposing clean, bare concrete for optimal performance with polishing, coating, or overlay applications. All EG Prep Tools are designed for dry operation with dust collection, ensuring cleaner, safer, and more efficient surface preparation.
The EG Prep Tool lineup offers different levels of cutting aggressiveness to match the material being removed and the desired surface profile. The #0 (3SEG Oval) metal-bond tool removes adhesives, thin-set, and epoxy up to approximately 4 mm while leaving a clean 80-grit profile. The #00 directional PCD/metal-bond tool provides heavier removal and creates a rougher profile with grooves up to approximately 1 mm deep, while the #000 PCD tool delivers the highest level of aggression for removing thick coatings, glue, and mastic. Choosing the correct tool depends on both the floor condition and the finish required before the next preparation or polishing stage.
