STI #00 Surface Prep Tool
STI #00 Surface Prep Tool is a heavy-duty combination PCD and metal-bond surface preparation tool engineered for aggressive concrete preparation. Designed to remove carpet glue, mastic, adhesives, thin-set, mortar residue, epoxy coatings up to approximately 4mm thick, and level surface irregularities of about ±4mm, it leaves a rough, profiled concrete surface with grooves up to 1mm deep, providing the ideal foundation for grinding or polishing. Featuring STI’s patented EG attachment system, it fits all Prep/Master® floor grinders and is intended for dry use only with dust collection.
As the most aggressive preparation step before grinding, the #00 Surface Prep Tool is ideal for taking coated, glued, or uneven concrete down to a clean, properly profiled surface. Its directional design requires a matched set consisting of 50% right-hand (#00R) and 50% left-hand (#00L) tools installed according to the machine’s holder rotation. Designed exclusively for concrete—never terrazzo, marble, or granite—it delivers an approximate service life of 30,000 sq. ft. per set. For best performance, STI recommends starting without additional head weight and adjusting the machine’s weight as needed to increase or decrease cutting pressure.
