STI EG Carbide Cutters are aggressive carbide-tipped surface preparation tools specifically designed for removing carpet glue, mastic, tile adhesive, and other soft, gummy coatings that quickly clog and wear out conventional diamond tooling. Featuring STI’s patented EG Quick Change attachment system, they mount directly to Prep/Master® floor grinders and rapidly strip glued- or coated-concrete surfaces down to clean, bare concrete. Because soft adhesives tend to smear rather than grind, carbide cutters slice through the material rather than drag and redeposit it, delivering faster, more efficient removal.

Unlike diamond tooling, which can glaze over when working with sticky materials, STI EG Carbide Cutters are engineered to handle demanding adhesive-removal applications while extending the life of your diamond tools. They are mounted on a trap-style tool and require an equal number of right- and left-rotation cutters to operate properly on Prep/Master® rotary machines. For latex-based (yellow) adhesives, water softens the glue and reduces heat buildup, while petroleum-based (black) adhesives are not softened by water, though water still helps prevent overheating and excessive stickiness during removal. For thick, hard epoxy coatings, STI recommends using PCD tooling instead.
