Alpha Ecoguard W Series expands dust collection solutions for cutting applications with innovative covers designed for wider diamond blades. The Ecoguard Type W5, made from clear polycarbonate for excellent visibility, features an adjustable cutting depth with a simple wing nut, a nose guide for precise cut alignment, and compatibility with vacuum systems for efficient dust and particle collection—ideal for Tuck Pointing and Crack Chasing applications.
Adding to the lineup, the Ecoguard W9 is engineered for blades up to 9” and fits most 7” and 9” angle grinders. It includes a multi-adapter system for quick installation, a front brush to contain dust during plunge cutting, and support bars with wheels to reduce surface friction. With a maximum cutting depth of 2-3/8”, it handles a wide range of materials with ease.

Maximum cutting depth you will receive when using a new diamond blade will be as follows: 5” blade: 1-1/4” (30mm) 4” blade: 1” (25.4mm) 3” blade: 1/2" (12.7mm)
When I purchase the Ecoguard, which connector assembly is already attached onto the guard?
The connector assembly already attached to the guard is for Makita®, Milwaukee® and Bosch® grinders.
Why are spacers included with the Ecoguard W5?
Alpha® includes a total of five spacers all with different thicknesses (4mm, 5mm, 7mm, 8.6mm and 9.4mm) for the purpose of aligning the blade to the cut mark on the support base. Once the blade is in alignment with the cut mark on the support base, the operator can follow the cut line on the stone to make straight cuts.
What is the purpose of the Support Base on the Ecoguard W5?
The Support Base provides stability to the Ecoguard when cutting (always keeping the blade at a 90 degree angle).
My vacuum hose keeps detaching from the Rubber Hose Connector, how can I secure the vacuum hose so it will not detach?
The Ecoguard W5 has one stainless steel hose band included inside the product box. Place this stainless steel hose band on the rubber hose connector, insert the vacuum hose inside the rubber hose connector and tighten the stainless steel hose band to secure the vacuum hose.
What is the purpose of the D115 and D125 marked on the side of the Ecoguard W5?
These are cutting depth guides. Use the D115 scale for 4.5” (115mm) diameter blades and D125 for 5” (125mm) diameter blades. Please note that the depth is indicated in millimeters.
Can I attach the dust bag from the Ecoguard C on the Ecoguard W5 and not use a vacuum?
No, the Dust Bag cannot be used on any other Ecoguard other than the Ecoguard C. The Ecoguard C is a hybrid design and the dust is forced through the hybrid design into the dust bag without the use of a vacuum. The Ecoguard W5 has a wide clearance so the dust is not forced out through the guard’s upper hole, so it requires the suction of a vacuum to collect the dust.
I just purchased an Ecoguard W5 and it will not fit securely onto my angle grinder, what should I do?
Check the owner’s manual of the Ecoguard W5 to verify that you have the correct connector assembly for the selected grinder attached to the Ecoguard. If the Ecoguard W5 still does not fit securely, call Alpha Professional Tools® for technical support: 800-648-7229.
What gives the Ecoguard W5 its rugged construction for the continuous daily, heavy-duty applications it performs?
The Alpha® Ecoguard W5 is made with a polycarbonate material which has excellent physical and toughness properties for the everyday use. This material is also transparent so you can see the actual cut line.

Does Alpha® sell a connector hose to fit onto the Ecoguard W5?
Yes. The Flexible Connector Hose is available for purchase (Part No. 500026). The hose is 18” in length with a 1-1/4” Tapered Fitting and 2-1/4” Female Fitting. When using this hose with the Ecoguard W5 you need to use the Rubber Hose Connector and Stainless Steel Hose Band which is include in the box of the Ecoguard W5.
